Sprinkler Blowout in Utah County

Technician repairing irrigation valves beside a walkway

A sprinkler blowout uses compressed air to remove water from parts of an irrigation system. It is one winterization method, and the equipment and procedure must fit the system.

Plan before freezing weather

Do not rely on a single calendar month for every Utah County property. Hunter’s winterization guide recommends preparation before freezing conditions and explains the risks of trapped water. Exposed components can need attention even when buried lines are protected.

What to discuss when booking

Have the zone count, water-supply location, controller model, and any known leaks ready. Ask what the visit includes for the shutoff, backflow assembly, pump or filters, and controller. These components are not identical on every property.

Avoid blanket guarantees

Winterization reduces freeze-damage risk; it is not a promise that every drop is removed or that no damage can ever occur. A compressor is not a substitute for identifying the system’s drainage requirements.
